Hello friends. It has been a long, long ten days since I have last spoken to all of you lovely people. I have since arrived in Dublin, and spent the past week going on all sorts of adventures with my mom.
Would you like to see some other pictures? Yes? If you insist.
Pretty, right? I love Dublin so far. People are incredibly friendly, helpful, and have a really dry sense of humor, which I can totally roll with. I'd almost call the city cozy. I already have found some favorite places and little shops, like the Chester Beatty Library, Avoca, and Queen of Tarts.
I am enamored with the food...fluffy scones with clotted cream, milky cups of tea...more scones. We'll talk about scones more in a second. Let me show you where I'm living:
Nice, right? Everything is brand new. But do you notice anything about the kitchen? Like...the lack of OVEN? That's right guys...the baker has no oven. Sigh. Double sigh. I know I can survive, but I can't make any meals except on the stovetop, and...no cakes, no cookies, bars, breads...no scones. I can't try and perfect my Irish scone! I'm sad, I won't lie about that. But I'll obviously make due. I'll just have to be a little more creative. If any of you have recipes for no bake desserts, I'd love to have them, seriously, leave them in the comments.
This'll be an interesting semester.

Sorry for the mess, I'm still getting settled. |

All sorts of no bake cookies my friend! Experiment with different kinds of chocolate, like white chocolate and peanut butter coconut no bake cookies & stuff! Crazy Rice Krispie squares with different kinds of cereal?
ReplyDeleteNo bake cheesecakes galore! You can do it my sweet :) I'm so jealous of your amazing adventure!
Awww, this comment was adorable and inspiring. Thank you!
DeleteMy suggestion:
ReplyDelete1. Find a local friend fast...someone who will be happy to let you bake at his/her house in return for a share of the treats!
2. You probably already have this recipe, but this is my go-to when I am longing for chocolate and too impatient for any other solution.
No-Bake Chocolate Oatmeal "Cookies"
Combine in large saucepan:
2 c sugar
1/2 c milk
1/2 c cocoa powder
1/2 c margarine
Bring to boil, stirring constantly. Boil one to two minutes, then remove from heat and stir in
3 c rolled oats
1/2 c peanut butter
1 tsp vanilla
Drop by spoonful onto sheet pans lined with waxed paper/parchment/Silpat. Chill in fridge until set.
Have fun! Anna O.
Thank you, Anna! I've seen this recipe but never actually made it...this is a perfect time to try it out.
